A year or so ago, a discussion about pancreatic external fistula was held in this list and efectivness of occluding them with chewing gum was mentioned by many. A search in Medline was unsuccesfull. Could anybody give references?

I will leave the chewing gum to my American colleagues who use it more than us Brits.

As far as chewing gum, I tried Silly Putty on a jejunostomy site that was draining more than I would like, but it just fell out. I did have a patient try Silly Putty herself at home in a similar situation and she said it worked.

Chewing gum should stay in better, but who is going to chew the gum first?
