Re: Central line complication - Ärzteforum

At the hospitals I have worked at there were no policies that I know of but we I can't think of a time I sent a pt to the floor with a cordice only because without the swan ganz catheter in place it tends to get bent and kink. I think this complication has more to do with nursing care and protocols. Unfortunatley nursing administrators always blame the individual nurse instead working to make the whole system safer. I don't know the details but someome has to look at how the lines were attached, were luer(sp?) locks used etc... I have many pts on the wards and even at home with central lines and have not (luckily) have had this problem.
