Semen Analysis post Vasectomy - Ärzteforum

I have found a number of patients can take many months to clear following vasectomy. It has been my practice to wait until the semen analysis is reported "no sperm seen" before advising the man he is sterile. I do feel however that a report of "an occasional non-motile sperm seen; count 5000/ml" some 3 to 4 months post op indicates sterility.

My normal practice is to perform initial semen analyses @ 10 & 12 weeks to allow time to clear the seminal vesicles. Patients are informed that they need to have two consecutive negative sperm counts before being considered sterile. My criterion of negativity is "no sperm seen".
